Custom 3D Printed Solution for a VN Commodore Classic

Local, strong, supply chain-proof automotive parts.

For vehicle enthusiast Kent, owner of Glossworks, a local automotive detailing business in Toowoomba, restoring his VN Commodore meant doing things properly. But when the speaker covers in the interior were too damaged to repair and impossible to source, he reached out to Forma 3D for a custom solution.

3D Scan. CAD Design. 3D Print. Fit.

We scanned the broken cover with our high-resolution 3D scanner, allowing us to replicate the fine mesh pattern and clip details. Our design team reverse-engineered the part in CAD, and after validating the fit with a rapid prototype, we moved into final production using Tough 2000 Resin, an engineering-grade material chosen for its rigidity and durability.

OEM Look, Stronger, Replicatable Build.

The final part was a near-identical match to the original, right down to the fine mesh pattern, but with added strength and durability. It didn’t just restore the speaker cover, it upgraded it. This is what modern 3D printing makes possible: preserving automotive history with parts that look right, fit right, and last longer.

Projects like this remind us how 3D technology can breathe new life into local builds, one custom part at a time.
